Texas threatening to prosecute UN monitors

So Texas is threatening to prosecute UN election monitors if they come to polling sites to monitor. And shit like this is what makes it so incredibly hard for me to like the GOP in any fashion. All that I can think of is what is Texas planning on doing that it doesn't want the world to see? So much for transparency, eh?

(Texas Attorney General) - He went on to remind representatives that they are not allowed to enter a polling place, and cautioned against going within 100 feet of the entrance. "Failure to comply with these requirements could subject the OSCE's representatives to criminal prosecution for violating state law," he wrote.

"The threat of criminal sanctions against OSCE/ODIHR observers is unacceptable," Lenarcic said in a statement. "The United States, like all countries in the OSCE, has an obligation to invite ODIHR observers to observe its elections."

"Gov. Rick Perry also chimed in, saying "No UN monitors/inspectors will be part of any TX election process."

In defense of the GOP, South Carolina welcomed them.

Now that said, The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) is a shadow chapter of the UN, wherin it still labels Japan and Germany "enemy states". I get that they are there to be a buffer before the UN steps in, but seriously who pays these people? Just another toothless organization blostering and advising a larger more expensive toothless organization.

That said, they have viewed previous US elections with no ill affect, so what's the big deal.

Oh and if we wanted transparency, we would probably get rid of the electoral congress.

I discourged by both parties on voting rights. RP used GOP rules and "won delegates", despite not "winning" the state. At the convention they did an oral vote, and despite their rules, carried on anyway to change all the "RP rules" in one go.

They made the change anyway, without the 2/3's necessary, too bad a few cameras caught view to the teleprompters during the voting.

Who needs transparency when the parties lie to even their most ardent supporters.

I agree. I remember listening on the radio to the convention and thinking to myself that the oral vote had failed, yet somehow the rules passed anyway..
