Learning to Paint

Post by MorGrendel »

Hey Thomas et al,
I was thinking, if you want to practice painting, we have plenty of terrain to paint. Buildings are bigger, and require less fine work, but allow you to try out techniques. Let me know if you want to wander up here next week to give painting a go. Or depending on schedules maybe I can meet you half way in Bowie.

Good Day, Jeff.

Thanks, that would be great. Bowie would be prefect. I am in camp right now so friday and monday are out any other day would be fine. The only thing I may have to cancel at the last minute for work reason. Like last night I had to fix part of the irrigation system after camp. Not sure how my lads managed to break it, but they found a way. Pick the best day for you and I'll do my very best to make it. There is a Outback right there, so we could dine after.

Sincerely

Thomas

Thomas et al,
How is this week?
I think I'll also bring two 500-1000 point armies so you can have a go at playing as well.

I get off around 5:30, and it takes about a half hour (maybe more with traffic) to get there. So 6:30ish. How's that?

Good Day, jeff.

That would be fine. So, you will be bringing the larger stuff to paint. I will not be bringing any of my stuff that need s painting. Because if I don't have a mag light I can't see what I am painting. Hopefully the terrian will be easier for me to see. See you about 6:30ish at bowie.

Sincerely

Thomas

Hmmm.
No, I had expected that you were bringing models. I guess I can grab a building and few other things. Were you bringing paint and brushes?

As before I recommend painting the models off the sprue, and with the right techniques, requiring little squinting.

In addition, maglights tend to be yellow in color, and I believe can throw you off. I recommend a magnifing OTT light. They are on sale at Joanne's: http://www.joann.com/joann/search/searc ... ici=Slot42

Also, other options, like so: http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog/prod ... prd1130508

Actually, For myself, I'm looking at: http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog/prod ... mageType=m

Good Day, Jeff

I'll bring some paint and brushes and some models. I was hoping to do some blending and work on the terrain. I''ll see you tonight
