Defending the gate

Good Day, All.

It was very nice fighting with you lads again. I am looking foward to a great fighting season. I got a nice bruise on my left shoulder. I'll have to show it to Rachel to show her someone other than she fights. So, who is up for defending the gate this coming sat the 27th. It is in Spotsylvania "sp'" Va. about 1.5 to 2 hrs drive.

I'm out. I'm going to an engaged encounters thingy that weekend (thingy for engaged couples where they talk about stuff pertinent to life and beyond-- requirement so i can get married in a catholic church).

I guess that I am in for this weekend. Defending the Gate is a good event. Only bummer is that we will be skipping the second Markland event of the Season. Next event isn't until May it looks like right now.

I think I can make this one, I just have to repair all my armor first. Wish I could have made the practice sunday but was still stuck in a car coming home.

I need to do some armor repair as well... seeing as you arn't that far away do you want to get together this week to work on it. All but Tuesday should be good with me.

Yea I'm not fighting till friday, shoprat has my guantlets hes fixing them, but I still have a ton of repairs to do, also brand new guantlets to fiddle with. What about the rest of you lot? wensday or thursday? friday is haven practice and also when i will be picking up my guantlets. i bet everyone has some repairs to make.

Here is the Schedule for Defending the Gate. Some of the times for the archery and fighting activities might change a little, so check back for updates by Friday afternoon.


Please pack your feast gear for lunch. Master Chirhart is in his kitchen as I type madly making meatballs according to his wife. I hope to post a menu for lunch by Thursday evening. There will be foods of all kinds to please everyone.



10 am -- Gate opens



10:30 am -- MOL check-in

-- Archery Inspections



11 am -- Royal Court
-- Curia to follow Court 15 minutes later



Noon -- Lunch -- Bring your Feast Gear



12:30 pm -- Armor Inspections and Authorizations

-- Rapier Inspections



1 pm -- Heavy Fighting Activities Begin*

-- Rapier Activities Begin*

-- Archery Activities Begin*

-- Children’s Activities in Children's tent
* may start earlier depending on Court



2 pm -- Armor Inspections ends
-- Youth Fighting in front of Royal Tent
-- Combat
-- Rapier



4:30 pm -- Stierbach Baronial and Royal Courts



6 pm -- Feast



10 pm -- Site closes



Site: Izaak Walton League, 12400 Herndon Road, Spotsylvania, VA 22553.
The site is dry. Pets are not permitted.
Site opens at 10 am and closes 10 pm.

Did you two want to ride with me. I leave the office at three. I have no email after that. Does any one want to meet up at my place and carvan down or ride depending on what doug and rachel decide ride. Gregor and Cian were asking about car pooling, but I offered to you two and any other galation first please let me know so i can let them known

It will take about 1 1/2 to get there from my place. Jeff would like us to be there by 11:00 ish So I would say we need to leave around 9:30ish.
