Manning Trial

Post by MorGrendel »

So not to delve into the minutia about the case, this is more of an thought exercise.

One of the defenses that Manning’s lawyer will use is that the information leaked was not classified. Does your opinion about Manning’s actions change if the information leaked turns out not to be restricted information? Another defense is that some leaked information, if it was classified, was came from source with a higher classification and was shared with Manning. Does that affect your opinion?

No in both counts.
First one is not true and will not be proven. Many of what was released is classfied. I cannot image how that lawyer is even trying to prove otherwise. Even if it is proven that none of the materials is actually classified by some miracle, anything on those servers are restrictied and not allowed to be shared with the public, classified or not. He still purposely and knowingly broke the law.

Second one, it doesn't matter that a superior gave him access to the information. He was the one that took it and made it public, against the law. That makes him a traitor. He will waste the remaining of his dumb little life in prison, as he should.
My love for you is like a truck..

That defense is nothing short of bullshit. He knew full well what he was doing and did so knowing full well how very illegal it was. He's guilty and I hope he likes Leavenworth.
