So I was suprised this didn't make more news, but the Attoney General said it is lawful for the government to kill American citizens, and that due process does not mean gaurenteed access to the judicial process. I wanted to find a better article, but I wanted to post on this before I shut down this PC.

I'll do more research on this. Personally, just from what I saw, I think it is an overreach, a bad precedent, and a terrible explaination.

Also you must remeber the Right does not have hordes of protestors with nothing better to do then camp out for months on end. A weekend or day is all they can seem to manage. ie occupy vs tea party

You're quite right about libs being up in arms if this were a Bush administration move. Conservatives would also be supporting the decision if it was a Bush administration move. Partisan politics are awesome. I for one don't care for the precedents set by all the "war on terror" legal opinions. First Gitmo, then the wire tapes, then this year's NDAA, and now this. However, it's hard to see an alternative solution. Anwar al-Awlaki openly advocated the murder of American citizens on video. He was deep in Yemen, making a raid untenable. What we did have was a location and the means to conduct a strike. I see no problem with the action. After all, the police are allowed to shot an armed and dangerous suspect if he won't surrender. What I do have issue with is this "due process doesn't necessarily mean legal process" crap. That's a terrible justification for an otherwise legitimate action. The legal precedent needs to be far more narrow than that.

Right or left, its bad. And as Fritz points out, combined with NDAA pretty much strips the people of any rights, and puts the people in direct opposition to the military. Moreover, it rends the fabric of this nation. We do not hide behind the law to kill someone, we sacrifice our lives to make this world a better place. We do not imprison people indefinitely, that's what fear mongering dictators do. I mean come on with the left vs right particianship shit. It does not exist. How many debates have the Republicans had, like 20, and this doesn't even come up! Anybody else feel like the whole "contraception debate" is just a way to distract attention aware from the real and scary issues. Big government likes control. Period.

If Anwar al-Awlaki had to die, then so be it. But tell me we killed him, because he was a terrorist and lives were immedately at stake. Don't make excuses, and justify your actions ex post facto with legal mumbo-jumbo. And define a terrorist. Some guy making hateful videos, just doesn't seem to cut it for me.

I guess, I'm just ranting. I just can't understand how we got here, and how better people than I allowed this to happen.

Do not get me wrong, I am all for blowing up known terrorist. American citizens I do have a problem with. Stripping them of their citizenship by one branch of goverment does not work for me either. Oh, I was just pointing out why there was not more coverage by the National Media. Jeff why do you think our elected represenatives (Left or Right) are any better then you. I can tell you from following them for longer then you have been alive they are not. Many if not most of them are in it for the power, the money and the glory. They care very little for anything that does not get them re-elected.
