My apologies to those who receive this missive multiple times. Our Blackspear lists cover folks far and wide and some are not on the Merry Rose or Facebook. Please feel free to cross post this info to other lists.

Spring Crown Tourney is quickly approaching! As you make your plans to attend, please know the following.

There will be a War Practice Sunday May 6, 2012. The practice will begin promptly at 10 am giving those who have to travel the opportunity to participate. There is no additional charge to participate in the practice. If there are fighters that need to authorize an MoL will be there. Sir Joselin d’ Outremer will be the Marshal in charge of the practice. Registration via ACCEPS is open! This is the most efficient way to pre-reg for the event. Your gate fee covers food. There will be food available all day long. There is not a formal evening feast.
Please pre-reg so we know how much food to get! If you cannot pre reg and plan to attend, please drop me an e-mail dollymore@comcast.net letting me know how many will be attending so I can give Head Cook, Lady Tirzah and Chez Robear a head count for food.

Patuxent River Park is a huge lovely primitive site with an awesome camping area! There is no extra charge to camp. Modern tents for camping are welcome! If you are not a camper, rooms have been blocked at Executive Inn and Suites just a few miles from the site. Mention the Society for Creative Anachronism and your room will be $80.00 a night plus taxes=88.80 per night

MORE INFO

With Pennsic rapidly approaching and melee dear to His Majesty's
heart, House Blackspear and the Barony of Storvik will be hosting an
armored melee practice the day following Crown Tournament at the Crown
event site. We know that many people attending Crown will have long
drives ahead of them on Sunday, and so practice will start promptly at
10 a.m. This will not be SCA time, but real-world time. Please plan
on arriving at 9:30 to ensure you are armored and ready to go by 10.
We will not wait for you.

There is no site fee for this practice. It is FREE!

The model will be that which has worked so well for Northern war
practices in the past: a series of no-res field battles, followed by
a capture-the-point resurrection battle, followed by limited-front
battles. We will pause only very occasionally for water breaks and
will save our discussions of the scenarios until those water breaks.
In other words, almost continuous fighting for as long as folks can
stand (typically that falls around noon). Eat a good breakfast and
bring lots of water. You'll need the energy and hydration.

Authorizations shall occur at 9:30 and will end by 10:00 and are
SOLELY by prior arrangement with the MIC for the practice. If you
want to authorize, you need to let me know in advance so that I can
ensure ushers and marshals are available and ready to go at 9:30 a.m.
