We currently have 7 pre-reg. 3 Fighters, unless we can convince Serban to go second week just like Fritz who has a pregnant wife. Gets a lot harder to go once you have infants. One last hurrah Serban.

I don't know how we could be shoved into our lower camp and lose the upper. For the same reason I don't think you can put someone in our lower and we keep upper ,access if a group goes in either of those 2 places we, or they must cut through someone else's camp to get to their camp, I could be wrong.

Well, they have been trying to stick a group behind the Rogues for some time now. Last year there was a dispute over road acces, that I understand turned ugly, but I don't have details. Our bottom pad, that Muscles and Rachel dug out has been commandered for at least the last two pennsics. Whores have pushed up to where the old shower on the lower level used to be, and last year they touched the Hill of Regrets. However, that area became a swampy mess and the closest tent moved. Singles have started clearing land in the lowlands behind Alpha Omega. There has been a big blue tent back there consistantly. There is a grill and water access, its only a matter of time. This is one of the ways groups move in, they camp in a spot for a while, and then demand road access. They now consider our block 80+% campable. It's our own fault, we proved people could live there. :)

Greetings to the Kingdom Seneschals of the Known World,

I respectfully ask that you forward this email to the seneschals of your
Kingdoms that they may share it with their populace who may be attending
this year's Pennsic War. There are a number of changes this year and we
want to make sure that no one is caught unaware by them. Many are happy
changes. Some will require adaptation. Pennsic Staff thanks everyone for
their understanding.

New for Pennsic 42:

- VERY IMPORTANT: You must *register online by June 9th at 11 pm* on the
Coopers Lake site (http://www.coopersl ake.com/) if you want your
registration to count for your groups land allotment.
- NOTE: Pennsic is running *one week earlier* than in previous years:
from July 20th (Troll does open at noon on July 19th, but no one can
come on site or set up until after *Land Grab *which* begins at 8
am* on July
20th). *Site closes at NOON on Saturday, August 3rd* (you should plan to
be off site by then).
- Good News: The Bridge that was out last year has been replaced and is
now two lanes. Bad News: *There is road construction on I-79 between 422
and 108* until July 26th that may cause slow downs. Check traffic maps
if you generally arrive from the north or south on I-79.
- Troll will be open 24/7 on weekends, but *Troll will be closed
from midnight
until 6 am, Monday to Thursday* of both weeks of Pennsic. You may want
to plan your arrival accordingly. (See the Cooper's Lake Pennsic
Registration website for more info.) If you arrive when Troll is closed you
will be directed to park on the Battlefield and will have to wait in your
car until Troll opens. There will be Porta-Johns nearby.
- Good News: The Barn has been converted to an expanded Camp Store and
has added a full time restaurant. The new camp store will carry supplies
from Lowe's as well as local fresh fruit and vegetables. More good news:
*All the activities previously held in the Barn will be held in the new
Great Hall*, a 165' x 65' foot structure the Coopers have build on the
west side of block N01 in the Serengeti.
- As in previous years there is NO using electrical outlets in any
Cooper building or Pennsic facility for charging (cell phones, laptops
etc.). Good News: if you are volunteering at a Pennsic point, you may be
allowed to charge your cell phone *while you are doing your volunteer
shift*. If you have a medical need for use of electricity check with
Disability Services.
- Good News: *There is a new well* to support the increased demand for
water, and *all water at Cooper's Lake is now chlorinated* for your
safety. Bad news: there is still iron in the water, and it still turns
brown, but it is just iron and will not hurt you. More good news: the
Coopers are building an expanded water treatment facility that will also
filter out the iron, but that will not cover the entire campground yet.
Stay tuned for next year.
- VERY IMPORTANT NEWS: *any group or individual that leaves their
campsite trashed after Pennsic will lose their land seniority! *Over the
last few years the number of campsites that have been left trashed
(furniture abandoned, ground littered, trenches and pits not filled in, and
even fires left burning) has been growing. Please leave your site as good
or better than you found it! Your whole group will be penalized if the land
is left a mess.
- Because Pennsic is closing down one day earlier than in previous
years, *most all activities are moving up one day earlier*: Classes
start on Tuesday of Peace Week, Opening Ceremonies are on Saturday the
27th, Combat begins on Sunday of War Week. Nonessential Pennsic
facilities will begin closing on the last Thursday
evening/Fridaymorni ng. Plan your last night parties for
Thursday or Friday night. Everyone must leave site on Saturday. Good
News: you have an extra day to get home and unpack.

I know these seem like a lot of changes, and that most people resist
change. Over the 29 years that I have been attending Pennsics, I have seen
this event grow and change considerably. The Serengeti was once a cornfield
and the battles were on Runestone Hill, then it became a parking lot, later
it was the battlefield, now it is camping space. Once upon a time classes
were only held in the main bath house, now we have an entire university.
Pennsic has weathered and adapted and grown to be the largest event in the
Known World, and as we continue to grow and adapt we will likely have more
changes. I think we get better and better each year with each change.
Especially when we can all work together to make the magic that is Pennsic.

I wish you all a happy and safe Pennsic; the Pennsic Staff and I will do
our utmost to make it so. I look forward to seeing you all in July--old
friends, and new friends, and friends not yet met.

Yours in Service,

Chai

OK, so time for a pennsic meeting. What day next week works for everyone going. Tuesday is bad for me.

This is just a preliminary meeting, just organizing since we are talking about NOT bring the trailer.

This week(17th-21st) I likely won't have time. The next week (24th-28th) I should be available mon, wed or friday.

All attendees will be up for the 4th of July weekend. It does not have to be a long meeting. What is there really to discuss. Things we need:
Shovel
Axe
Shower
Brush Cutter Thingy
Rake
Stove
Spatula
Spoon
Strainer
One Small pot
One Big Pot
One Flat Pan
Dual Cook Burner
Two Propane Tanks
One Tiki per Camper +2 for stairs (Generous estimate)
Jeff wanted to bring the sink.
Hose for shower and sink.

I could get the trailer if we really need, but I can't tow it. So that limits what we could take.
Things that are personal responsibilities:
Light
Food
Tent
Fighter Gear
Sausage
Feast Gear

Other things to discuss would be if we would have group dinners?
I could go either way. First week it is pretty much just me so I was just bringing MRE's. I will have a toddler, who is finicky at best when eating, and does not really eat meat. She eats noodles, potatoes, veggies. I personally planed on eating Chili night with the Dalridians, because they like me and I like their Chili. Not sure what night that is. What is the battle schedule like? If it is late like last year, I would just be eating sammiches for lunch and then probably eat at the battlefield, but if I remember right it is supposed to rotate this year.

The main thing I'm trying to avoid is any unexpected hauling and anymore damage to my truck.

We also need/want: (hey, a defiance joke)
At least one banner.
A table
Easy ups
First aid kit
Tarps for said shower (that's really a need)

I don't think we require the sink, I just know that the dirty nasty hoses fit in it.

That is really a want. I have gotten requests for us to leave our shower walls off from people down the hill.

But on a serious note Onaga Naki is at 18 this year. We really need to push to get people next year. Register some twins. More babies. Register some cats.

So...we kind of forgot to do the meeting. Anything I need to be concerned about? I'm leaving North Carolina on the 26th after work and leaving Maryland on the 27th as early as I can manage.

We should still discuss the logistics of getting the list of stuff above to Pennsic and back. Jason has talked about bringing the family, this gives me pause as to how much group stuff he can carry. Moreover, coming back, who wants to carry the stuff that has been out in the elements all two weeks. Without a trailer, where will we store fight gear, and what is the plan for fight mornings. I'm trying not to stress, and I appreciate Jason's attempt to layout what we need (though I feel he and kevin have always been light on light). I guess it is a matter of how many creature comforts we want, and how are we going to get them there.

I assume we're not bringing the trailer because we don't have anything capable of hauling it? Or it's just too much of a pain for such a low turn out? I should have some room in my trunk to help haul things back to MD, but I'll have to dump that stuff pretty quickly once back in MD.
