Sooooooo... Apparently, I'm two rule books back. I only understand about half of the above. :) Worse, I've always despised Chaos.

7th Ed is accutually pretty good. It lets you do pretty much any army you want while rewarding the more traditional lists. I've got it if anyone wants to borrow it.

I would like to borrow it.
No comments on the prismatic paint? No one has told be I can't do it, so I'm not inclined to prove them wrong.

Fritz/Jason - Have any left over HE Dragon Banner bits? Spearmen also have some dragon bits.

Possible spoilers - talking about the books

First, thanks Fritz, just finished Know no Fear. Despite my general dislike of Smurfs, it was alright. I get the point of the book, but I wish the warpstorm had been a bigger part. Seemed kind of ancelary at the end. The book followed a very similar pattern to Dan's other book, Only In Death. Which was also good, but suffers from the same plot flaws. Forgive me, but I hate when the biggest bad ass be it Gaunt or Roboute just goes missing for 7/8th of the book. Perhaps being a fan of horror, when something disappears it becomes a mystery, it does not convey a sense of overwhelming doom. I'm not saying Dan is a bad writer, I'm just saying this plot device does not work on me as I think it is intended too. I think it would have been way more effective to have had the ship lashed by a Erabus's fledgling warpstorm and seen Roboute and others pulled into the warp. At the end have Roboute step out through Olls opening. The science of the atmosphere around the ship, also seems a bit weak. You can pass out and freeze climbing a mountain and that is with a majority of the earth's atmosphere. Should have just said his armor had a rebreather tube or something.

Second, Scars is good. Real good. I listening to it on audio book. Only problem is the narrator pronouncing Roboute as RAW-BOOTY ( oh the images ) and other miscellaneous words like TAR-PAR-LOUNS. But best of all is an Alpha legion spotting where they are rocking old and new heraldry. Sweet.

Continuing ...
Third, appearently chaos can't fight in bad weather. What's up with that? I'm going to have my alpha legion download a weather app.

Scars I think just might be my favorite of the series. Just an incredibly well done book all around. I assume you've gotten through Legion? It predates all the digital books I've made available and it makes the Alpha Legion actions make (somewhat) more sense.

I have not tracked down Legion yet. And I'm not done with Scars, so no spoilers.

Done with Scars. Great book, a must read after Prospero Burns.
**Possible spoiler: Fritz, did I miss the explanation of the deaths on Femis? Was it just a device to introduce Hasik? Was there something more sinister at foot, that was explained, and I missed it? End Spoiler**

I think there is a follow up for Scars, and I hope it comes fast, or I might have to write my own.

I did some research regarding the Horus Heresy books. Can you believe they are up to 30 books, and a collection of Audio-Only books? Supposedly, there are 8 more in the pipeline. Fritz, have you read them all? Word of warning, some of the audio books are short, like 30 mins short.

I guess I must recant my earlier dislike of Know No Fear. Apparently the planning of the invasion of Calth is addressed in early books, Battle for the Abyss (Which I'm pretty sure I did not read) and The First Heretic (which, I think I read, but it has been a while). In any case, if you have not read the aforementioned books, you may want to before you read Know No Fear. As Fritz said, it does stand on it's own, but I think I had some lingering questions that the other books might have helped quell (like, Why Calth?)

In reading the comments of some of the books, the term "War-Porn" came up a lot. If you are unclear on the term, as I was, it basically is the repeated visceral dissection explanation given every time a warrior is killed. Pussy-Intestines, got it. Don't need it again. I find the books with high war-porn, tend to rate lower on my list, how about you?

Clayson gave me the prequel to scars, I'll start it as soon as I finish Fear to Tread. Just listened to Wolf Hunt. Short. I think it must follow another story.

I wish Fritz or Cook would talk books with me :(
