I just wanted to let everyone know that Chris is done basic. He did great and is on his way to Ft. Benning in GA for Officer School. This lasts for 12 weeks. It is possible that he will have more freedom to keep in touch with people, but he hasn't gotten a straight answer. He says HI to everyone!

That's good news, because otherwise our all of our Pvt. Pyle jokes would be in bad taste.

Basic is a total joke now a days. If you can tolerate muscle failure for about 3 weeks the rest of the PT is absurdly easy. I'm actually mildly offended that some of the turds I was basix with were allowed to graduate and were this uniform. I suddenly have a total and complete understanding of Jason's low tolerance of stupidity. Some of these fuckers are DUMB.

I've been at the holding unit for OCS for less than a week and I've already run farther than I ever did in basic at a faster pace. In the mean time I'm going crazy with boredom. PT in the morning followed by sitting on my ass waiting to do any detail that's needed.

I'm assuming the D.U.M.B ones end up as privates, not in officer school yes? Please tell me our officers are at least somewhat smart?

Depends on who you talk to. The guys I came over with from Ft Leonard Wood I think were definitely the cream of the crop there (although that's not saying much). Some of the people I've meet here at Ft Benning, however, are not much better than some of the dumb ass privates I knew back in Missouri.

Not all, just a lot of them. You'll fit right in. On a side note, you only did 3 weeks of muscle failure? We did it for almost the whole basic. We got the last week off, but that was only because they were closing my company for the winter and we had to get every piece of equipment cleaned to a ridiculous standard.

"Well, there is still paint on it, keep scrubing!"

Yes, there was essentially only 3 weeks where we concentrated entirely on muscle failure. That's not to say that there weren't days later on that they punished us with muscle failure, but overall it was too damned easy for me. Other guys got quite a bit out of the PT, but after week 3 I never really got much out of the official PT outside the run groups. Most of my improvement on push-ups and sit-ups (which was quite minimal) came from me doing PT on my own at night before going to bed.

We did however have the same rediculous cleaning standard for our equipment, but that wasn't so much the drill sergeants being dicks as them trying to make sujre we got past the dicks at CIF.
