Stones vs tokens

So I'm writing lists, and when I want a lot of dice, I like to take power stones. Now if I only have 15 points, then I take tokens, 20 points, then its the stone, 35 points an its stones and tokens.
However, what I'm wondering is if I am missing something?
The lists I see, other generals seem to pack 3 tokens. First, that's 45 points for 3 dice, in opposed to the 35 points for the 3 dice. Second, Tokens wound you on a roll of 1.
Now I know the Magic Item is a plural word, "Warpstone Tokens", but it is my understanding that you only get one die when purchased as a magic Item; In opposed to the Warpstone Tokens that come with Seers which are D3 tokens.
Now I know there are douch bags out there, but am I wrong or are devious Skaven players askewing the rules and taking D3 tokens per Warpstone Tokens. (Damn GW Writers)
