Defending the Gate - 2013
Defending the Gate is the usual kickoff event for the war season. Some years it is cold, others it is wet, but this year it was gorgeous! Also, the gate was bigger and better than ever before. No more flimsy walls, this construction was really four gates in one and we fought all around it. The event was well attended and the fighting started relatively on time, which is a blessing at the first event of the year. We teamed up with Bright Hills, and though outnumbered carried much of the day. Galatia won unit of the day, which sadly did not come with any booty. Titus was also awarded one of the three fighter of the day awards, which did come with some booty. Huzzah. A great day was had by all.

So the first Galatian exercise practice was launched, and if pain was a goal, then this session was a success! This session focused on balance, and worked those little muscles that keep you upright. We pushed for a little over an hour, made a good lather, and only one person nearly passed out. Good start.

The first Galatian Newsletter went out and the reviews are excellent. So print out your copy, post it on your fridge, and mark your calendars. Heck, print out an extra and put it by the can, so guest have something to read while . . . you know. Currently, if you have any suggestions, comments, or material please direct it to Doug.

While the fierce beasts of the forest hibernate, the Galatians make plans of war and await the thaw. As the fog still lays heavy upon the land, one can only speculate what the future holds. However, despite the uncertainty, the Warlord sets his beacon and beckons those gathered to follow or be left behind. For to wait for the fog to lift, would be a wait too long. The way forward is illuminated, and a new day will break.
